Week #7 – Final Cut Tutorial

Assignment #3

Part I. AARP Editorial/Multimedia Assignment

  • Shoot your stills for your multimedia piece & ambient audio
  • Begin editing your multimedia on Final Cut

Part II: 

  • Write a blog entry on your progress in the multimedia piece. Include information on the subject matter and emphasize how your collaboration with your new team is different from the first two assignments. What are you doing differently in this group than you did before?
  • Review the previous reading assignments to prepare for the mid-term which will consist of multiple-answer questions based on the reading materials and videos.

Part II – The Editing Process Exercise

  • Those students who volunteered will bring in 30 4×6 prints of their body of work. (Please include your existing portfolio if you have one.)

Part I. AARP Editorial/Multimedia Assignment

  • Find subject and location for interview & shoot
  • Compile and complete production docs (schedule, crew roster, estimate, shot list, equipment inventory)
  • Produce a storyboard based on the key points of the edited interview that you intend to shoot.
  • Prepare for production presentation (DRM and PC)
  • Conduct an audio interview with your subject and submit edited audio files on a USB Memory stick. (Submit as .wav file).

Part II

  • Interview a working professional photographer who believe is achieving some level of success. Focus on the topic of “What I wish I’d learned in art school, college was…..”. Discuss why they believe that point was so important and how they have dealt with it in their career. Provide your own thoughts on the topic. Write an entry on your blog of between 250-500 words. Include a link to their website or blog.  (Do not interview a current Art Center student).
  • Write 3 multiple answer questions based on reading material (see below). Please print and include your name on the page.

Week #5 – Psychology Today Editorial

Assignment #4

Part I: Psychology Today Editorial Assignment

  • Amend docs based on comments in class today (estimate, schedule, equipment list, etc)
  • Shoot and edit images and submit 10 selects on USB disk w/delivery memo.
  • Submit Project bible and include final invoice, delivery memo and project assessment. (DRM)

Part II: 

  • Write a blog entry on the challenges of coming up with a concept for the “creativity” cover and describe the processing on coming up with a concept as a team.
  • Write 3 multiple answer questions based on the article listed below. Include four possible answers and please indicate which is the correct answer.

Part II

  • Create WordPress blog w/ entry a publication you are interested in working with in the future. Gathering information from their media kit include explain why this publication is of interest to you and include information on their mission statement, name of photo editor (or other points of contact), circulation numbers, demographics (sex, income, etc). Identify two photographers that they have used repeatedly in the past and identify why believe you’d be a good for the publication.  (remember to link to WPII Facebook page)
  • Write 3 multiple answer questions based on reading material (see below). Please print and include your name on page.
